Biography
Dr. Jeremy Kieval is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in laser vision correction such as LASIK and PRK, corneal disease and transplantation, and refractive cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses. He serves the greater Boston area from offices in Lexington and Concord and is a full-time member of Lexington Eye Associates.
After obtaining his undergraduate degree from Emory University, Dr. Kieval spent several years performing medical research with the Emory University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree and graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Medicine where he was the recipient of the Boston University Award for Outstanding Contributions. He then went on to complete his residency in ophthalmology at the Boston University Medical Center and was selected from among his peers to serve as the Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. Dr. Kieval completed his training with a subspecialty fellowship in Cornea, Refractive Surgery, and External Disease at the world-renowned Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. Since 2004, the US News and World Report has consecutively ranked Bascom Palmer as the #1 eye hospital in the country.
Dr. Kieval has presented his research and lectured extensively at national and international meetings. He has authored numerous publications and contributed to several text books in the field of ophthalmology, as well as in the field of neuroscience. He is dedicated to using cutting edge technology and advanced surgical techniques to provide exceptional care for his patients. Dr. Kieval’s professional interests include corneal transplant surgery, laser vision correction, refractive cataract surgery, and complex intraocular lens repair. Dr. Kieval is a member of the prestigious Vanguard Ophthalmology Society and serves on the Refractive Cataract Subcommittee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and was selected into the Academy’s Leadership Development Program and was the recipient of the Academy’s Achievement Award. He is a member of the New England Ophthalmological Society, where he serves of the program committee. Dr. Kieval is the current President-elect of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. He serves on the board of directors for Surgisite Boston and Surgisite North, as well as the Emerson Hospital Independent Practice Association. In addition, he is a reviewer for several journals in ophthalmology, and serves as an advisor and consultant in the ophthalmic surgical and pharmaceutical industries.
Dr. Kieval lives in the Lexington area with his wife and three children. He is an avid tennis player and enjoys scuba diving and cooking.
